Frequently Asked Questions

What is a certified translation?

The translation made by a translator authorized by the Ministry of Justice is considered a certified translation.
The certification is done by applying the stamp and signature of the authorized translator on each page of the translation.
All translations made by our translation bureau are performed only by authorized translators with extensive experience in translation.

What is a certified translation?

Certified translation is an authorized translation whose signature and stamp are certified by a notary public.
The public notary certifies that the signature and the stamp applied by the translator are authentic, as well as the fact that the translator holds an authorization issued by the Ministry of Justice.
This procedure gives to the translated, corrected or endorsed document by the translator, a legal force equal to the original document.

What is the Apostille?

The Apostille is a certificate issued by the competent authorities of a State signatory of the Hague Convention for the official documents drawn up in that country, to be presented in another state party to the Convention.
The purpose of issuing an apostille is to authenticate the origin of an official act to prevent the use of false documents in order to produce legal effects.

What is the authentication of a document?

Authentications and notary translations

Official documents, especially notarial certified translations for use abroad, are subject to the authentication procedure to ensure the authenticity of the signatures and the seal. So the notarial documents to be used abroad in countries not members of the Hague Convention must be authenticated by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this order.
After performing these operations between the state institutions, the notarial act is subject to authentication at the Diplomatic Mission or the Foreign Consular Office of Romania.
The same procedure applies also to notarial documents performed by a foreign notary in order to be used in Romania.

Notary translations certified abroad
Official documents drawn up or certified by a foreign authority may be used in the Romanian Courts only if they are legalized, administratively and hierarchically, and further by diplomatic missions or consular offices of Romania, in order to guarantee the authenticity of the signatures and the seal .

How do we calculate the number of pages?

The reference page for making a translation is 2000 characters with spaces. To calculate the number of pages of a Microsoft word document, go to the “Review” menu and select “Word Count”. The number that appears in the “Characters (with spaces)” column is divided to 2000 and results in the number of pages in the standard format.

Note that some translation offices may have smaller reference pages such as 1,800 characters with spaces or even 1500.
